Overview

Location: Rustington. This role is to support a 13-year-old boy with Global Developmental Delay (GDD), ADHD, Autism and FASD. The candidate will provide one-to-one support to take him on trips out in the local area in their car, and occasionally join in with activities at home.

Hours per week: 3.5 hours per week. Hourly pay rate: £16 per hour. Mileage: 45p per mile.


Responsibilities

* Personal grooming
* Transportation
* Companionship
* Dressing / undressing
* Accessing and participating in social and leisure activities (e.g., swimming, funfair rides, arcades, days out, after school clubs)
* Mealtimes (e.g., cutting up food, table skills)


Candidate qualities

* Respectful of the employer’s privacy and confidentiality
* Reliable with good timekeeping
* Able to both follow instructions and work on own initiative
* Hygienic, tidy and well organized
* Fit and healthy to undertake the required duties
* Patient with excellent interpersonal skills
* Honest and cheerful
* Creative
* Able to speak and read English to a reasonable standard
* Able to work to high standards of health & safety


Requirements

* Driver’s licence required: Yes
* Own vehicle needed: Yes
* Non-smoker preferred or willing to refrain from smoking during working hours
* Right to work in the UK
* Willingness to undertake an Enhanced DBS check if required
* Role may be engaged directly by the employer or employed by the individual employer (not by Independent Lives)
* If employed, eligible for holiday pay and issued an employment contract
* Notes: The role may be offered on an employed or self-employed basis, depending on suitability and agreement with the employer

Details: The role supports a child with specific needs in a home and community setting. The candidate will be expected to maintain privacy and confidentiality and adhere to health & safety standards.
