Wood is currently recruiting for a Senior Instrument Designer to work on a PAYE/Fixed Term Staff contract. This role will be based in our Clients offices in Aberdeen Offices and hybrid working is required 3 days per week. Must have extensive experience in the oil and gas petrochemical industry. Occasional Offshore trips will be required.

Wood is currently recruiting for a Senior Instrument Designer to work on a PAYE /Fixed Term Staff Contract. This role will be based in our Clients Offices in Aberdeen and hybrid working is required 3 days per week. Must have extensive experience in the oil and gas petrochemical industry. Occasional Offshore trips will be required,

Contributes to engineering excellence by providing the link between engineering design theory and practical application, translating critical design concepts into workable plans for tangible end-products.

1. Prepares engineering drawings in their discipline area from rough sketches or from general engineering and design information according to established standards and procedures
2. Create designs and sketch out detailed plans for projects such as commercial, industrial, and civil sector structures and plant and/or manufactured products and systems
3. Plans and carries out technical assignments of substantial variety and complexity. Capable of handling assignments which involve a variety of procedures and techniques
4. Undertakes technical assignments that are a significant part of an ongoing engineering program
5. Prepares mechanical or digital drawings, diagrams or blueprints and/or models of various products or structures, using computer-aided drafting (CAD) and/or computer-aided drafting and design (CADD) software

Qualifications:

6. BSc, BEng or equivalent professional qualification or HND or equivalent.
7. Must have valid Offshore Certs and be willing to go offshore

Knowledge, skills and experience:

8. A full understanding of the materials and methods normally used in their discipline
9. An understanding of related engineering principles and practices, plus training and diversified experience in the field of activity is required
10. Capable of interpreting key documents including; engineering standards, piping material specifications, P&IDs and Line Lists
11. Technically oriented, mechanically inclined, good at mathematics and talented at translating intangible concepts into hands-on project plans
12. Competent user of CAD/D software

13. BSc, BEng or equivalent professional qualification or HND or equivalent with extensive relevant experience
14. Must have valid Offshore Certs and be willing to go offshore
