Overview
Our Independent Visiting service is looking for volunteers in or near Stafford. If you would like to support a child or young person currently in the care of their local authority, we would love to hear from you.
Responsibilities
* Meet with a child or young person on a regular basis (typically once a month) and plan activities together, such as going to the cinema, bowling, playing football, going to a restaurant, riding a bike, or walking in a park. Activities will be chosen to match interests and promote confidence and development.
* Decide with your young person what to do and provide companionship, guidance, and support during visits.
What we are looking for
* Fun, reliable, and enthusiastic volunteers from all backgrounds and cultures who have a genuine interest in making a difference in the lives of children and young people.
* No prior experience with children is required; an interest in their development and welfare is important. Full training and ongoing support are provided.
Role details
* Volunteering mainly happens at weekends and after school hours when young people are not in school.
* The role requires a commitment of at least 24 months with one visit per month to ensure stability for the Child or Young Person.
