Overview
Research Assistant (Fixed Term) position at the Sir Peter Mansfield Imaging Centre (SPMIC) and Mental Health and Clinical Neurosciences, School of Medicine, University of Nottingham, UK. You will assist the Computational Neuroimaging research team in carrying out academic research and developing neuroimage analysis methodology for brain Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI). The role includes in-silico biophysical modelling of neuronal tissue microstructure to link biophysical changes with changes in structural/functional MRI signals. You will conduct computer simulations, software development, literature searches, data analyses and drafting of reports.
Responsibilities
* Support and collaborate with the Computational Neuroimaging research team on academic research projects related to neuroimaging data and methods.
* Develop and implement neuroimaging analysis methods and software for brain MRI data.
* Perform computer simulations and in-silico modelling of neuronal tissue microstructure.
* Carry out literature searches, data analyses, and contribute to drafting reports and publications.
Qualifications
* Undergraduate degree in a relevant computational domain such as engineering, physics, neuroscience, computer science, or applied mathematics.
* Skills in computer programming (Python, C++, or Matlab) and scientific computing.
* A Master’s degree is desirable but not essential.
* Research experience in building methods for analysing/modelling neuroimaging data is advantageous.

Details
The post is offered on a full-time basis (36.25 hours per week) or part-time basis (minimum 29 hours per week). Please specify your preferred hours in your application. The post is available from 5 January 2026 for six months (full-time) or seven months (part-time).
