Centenary Programme Manager
The Diocese of Derby and Derby Cathedral will celebrate their centenaries in 2027. To mark this significant milestone, we will develop and deliver a programme of events and activities that celebrates our heritage whilst recommitting us to the delivery of the diocesan vision, as we enter our second century, that The Kingdom of God is Good News for All, lived out through our missional objectives and giving attention to our diocesan priorities.
The Centenary Programme Manager will:
• Lead the development and delivery of the Diocese of Derby’s 2027 Centenary Programme, shaping a coherent, vision aligned plan through strategic design, cross diocesan engagement and close collaboration with Derby Cathedral.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic Planning & Programme Development
• Establish a project link with Derby Cathedral to align diocesan and cathedral centenary planning and programmes.
• Facilitate workshops, consultations and engagement sessions with the diocesan leadership team (Bishop’s Leadership Team and Senior Leadership Team), clergy, parishes, diocesan staff and wider partners to shape the programme.
• Develop project plans, milestones, risks, resource requirements, and monitoring and evaluation methods.
Programme Delivery & Implementation
• Oversee the delivery of all diocesan centenary events, initiatives and communications during 2026 (planning phase) and 2027 (delivery and monitoring phase – possible launch in Advent 2026).
• Manage project timelines, budgets and evaluation processes to ensure timely and effective delivery.
• Coordinate multiple workstreams ( heritage, mission, worship, community engagement, youth, environment).
Stakeholder Engagement & Communication
• Serve as the central point of contact for all centenary-related activity.
• Build strong, collaborative working relationships with the Bishop and her Office (including her Executive Assistant, Parliamentary Assistant and Chaplain), Archdeacons, diocesan staff, clergy, parish leaders and external partners ( Derby City Council and their 50:50 celebrations over the same period).
• Develop clear communication and engagement plans to provide collaboration opportunities with parishes, schools and communities across the diocese.
• Ensure all messaging reflects diocesan values, theological vision and priorities.
