Overview
Applications are invited for a full-time substantive post for a consultant in anaesthesia with a special interest in Obstetric Anaesthesia. The successful applicant would join a team of obstetric subspecialty anaesthetists and work across partner NHS trusts within the Norfolk and Waveney University Hospitals Group. All future senior medical and dental appointments are expected to work across the Group and may be on more than one hospital site depending on service needs. Some clinical procedures or services may be delivered at sites other than the primary site of employment.
Responsibilities
The appointee will share clinical responsibilities within the Department of Anaesthesia, including provision for peri-operative assessment. In addition to sub-specialty duties, the appointee will provide anaesthesia for adult patients in all specialties as appropriate to training and experience. There is an on-call commitment of approximately 1:10 to provide obstetric anaesthetic service for out-of-hours urgent and emergency cases. All consultants will be involved in implementing the Trust\'s Clinical Governance programme, including clinical audit, quality, guidelines/pathways, professional development, appraisal and risk management. The appointee will be a member of the Consultant Staff Committee. The appointment is to the Trust, not to a specific hospital.
