Role Summary:
Kersia, a global leader in biosecurity and food safety incorporates Kilco International Limited, specialists in biosecurity and food safety. Consistent growth and investment has enabled the company to develop into one of the UK’s leaders in this market sector working in partnership with both blue chip and Independent Companies. Kilco provides specialist knowledge in animal health and food safety.
The role will be based out of our manufacturing site in Lockerbie and will work alongside the existing Production Leader to supervise and support the manufacturing, goods in, filling, and labelling operations within the factory. We are looking for a talented individual, with knowledge and experience of leading a team within a manufacturing environment, building strong working relationships, and following the procedures and methods already in place with the aim to support the business with any continuous improvement initiatives or ideas.
Main Responsibilities
* Assist in developing production plans and maintain production schedules, determine labour and resource needs.
* Supervise daily manufacturing activities, monitor production efficiency (OEE) and adjust schedules or processes as needed, ensuring adherence to current processes and procedures in place.
* Monitor production runs, ensure products meet quality standards, and support quality‑control programs. Supporting and lead by example the team members to follow good manufacturing/filling practices.
* Ensure that production adheres to health and safety guidelines, company policies, and relevant legal regulations, leading by example with good HSE practices. Highlighting any practice not considered safe or legal.
* Lead, supervise, and motivate the production team with responsibility for completing return to works, conducting investigations and disciplinary where necessary, recruitment, identifying training needs, managing performance, conducting annual appraisals.
* Liaise with other departments (planning purchasing, engineering) and external stakeholders to ensure a smooth workflow.
* Supporting the purchasing department and stock controlling functions to ensure the availability or requirements of materials (raw materials, packaging, etc.) and help to identify any potential problem with stocks.
Skills, Knowledge and Experience
* 3 years’ experience leading a team, ideally within a production or manufacturing environment.
* Practical knowledge of health and safety and quality standards.
* Experience of working within a chemical or other regulated industry preferred.
* Hands‑on approach.
* Strong problem‑solving skills.
* Adaptable to change.
* Proven communication and people skills.
* Excellent communication skills both written and verbally.
* Able to build strong relationships internally and externally.
* Being able to manage conflict at all levels in the organization.
