About the role
To provide dedicated 1:1 support for a primary pupil, with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and challenging behaviour. The role focuses on promoting emotional regulation, positive behaviour, engagement in learning, and overall wellbeing within a structured and supportive school environment.
1. Provide consistent 1:1 support tailored to the individual needs of the pupils.
2. Support the child in accessing the curriculum, adapting activities where necessary under the direction of the class teacher.
3. Implement individual behaviour support plans and risk assessments.
4. Use positive behaviour management strategies to support emotional regulation and reduce incidents of challenging behaviour.
5. Build a strong, trusting relationship to promote security and engagement.
6. Support the child during transitions and unstructured times (e.g., break, lunch).
7. Encourage the development of social skills and positive peer relationships.
8. Monitor, record, and report on progress, behaviour, and wellbeing.
9. Liaise effectively with teachers, SENCO, parents/carers, and external professionals.
