A client within the Public Sector based in Lincolnshire is currently recruiting for a Strategic Lead for Traffic and Transportation to join their Highways and Transportation team as soon as possible. The client is offering a full-time, temporary position on an ongoing basis, with the ideal candidate having experience working within a local authority within a Traffic and Transportation environment.
The Role
The key purpose of the role is to provide strategic leadership for the Traffic and Transportation service, collaborating closely with stakeholders and external partners to deliver the Council’s Local Highway Plan strategy. The role involves unlocking investment, securing funding streams, and driving initiatives to support net zero, sustainable transport, and economic growth for the region.
Key responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
* Leading a multi-disciplinary team to deliver functions in street works, traffic, road safety, and transport.
* Championing a safety-first approach for all staff and work sites.
* Providing expert advice on complex traffic and transport issues, ensuring solutions are achievable within budgetary, legislative, and best practice constraints.
* Developing strategic relationships with internal and external stakeholders to achieve service outcomes.
* Sourcing and securing investment and grant allocations to deliver the Local Highway Plan strategy and support sustainable transport initiatives.
The Candidate
To be considered for this role, you will require:
* Minimum Level 6 qualification (or equivalent experience) in a relevant technical subject.
* Membership of a professional body such as IHE, ICE, or IHT.
* Significant experience within a Local Transport Authority or similar setting, with a strong understanding of local transport governance, regulations, and operations.
The following skills would be beneficial for the role:
* Proven ability to develop and implement transport strategies, including sustainable and decarbonisation initiatives.
* Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire and manage high-performing teams.
* Excellent relationship management skills, with experience working with community representatives and delivery partners.
Compensation
The client is looking to move quickly with this role and is offering £33 per hour Umbrella LTD Inside IR35 (approx. £26 per hour PAYE).
