Teaching Personnel are working in partnership with a specialist SEMH school in Bolton to recruit a passionate and engaging individual with Forest School experience to support young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to transfer their outdoor education and Forest School skills into a specialist education setting, helping students build confidence, resilience, teamwork skills and positive future pathways.
The school provides a therapeutic and personalised learning environment for students who may have struggled in mainstream education. Staff are committed to building strong relationships, promoting positive behaviour and supporting young people to achieve their full potential.
About the Role
You will use your Forest School knowledge and outdoor learning experience to engage students in practical, hands-on activities in nature-based settings. You will act as a positive role model, supporting both learning and wellbeing through outdoor education.
The role combines mentoring, pastoral support and outdoor learning facilitation, helping students develop confidence, emotional regulation, teamwork and employability skills.
A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle is essential, as the role may involve supporting students with off-site Forest School sessions, outdoor learning activities and educational visits.
We are looking for candidates who:
* Have experience in Forest School settings or outdoor education programmes
* Hold (or are working towards) a Forest School Leader qualification (desirable)
* Hold a full UK driving licence and have access to a vehicle
* Are passionate about supporting young people to succeed
* Can build positive and professional relationships with students
* Demonstrate patience, resilience and consistency
* Have experience working with young people through mentoring, coaching, youth work, education or outdoor learning
* Are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
* Are willing to undergo an enhanced DBS check
Desirable Experience
* Forest School leadership or outdoor education delivery
* SEMH, SEND or alternative provision settings
* Youth work or mentoring
* Behaviour support
* Coaching or experiential learning delivery
