Are you ready to lead from the front?
Sir John Nelthorpe School is a place where tradition meets ambition. We are looking for a confident, adaptable, and charismatic individual to join our team as a Cover Supervisor. Whether you are an aspiring teacher looking for classroom experience or a seasoned professional who loves the energy of a school environment, this is your chance to make a tangible impact.
What you’ll be doing:
No two days are the same. You won’t just be "minding a class"; you’ll be the face of the classroom when a teacher is away, ensuring students remain focused, motivated, and on task.
Lead the Room: Manage classroom behaviour and maintain a positive learning environment.
Deliver Lessons: Facilitate pre-set work across a variety of subjects (don’t worry, you don’t need to be an expert in everything!).
Support & Inspire: Help pupils navigate their tasks and answer their questions with clarity.
Join the Community: Work closely with our dedicated staff to ensure seamless continuity for our pupils.
Why Sir John Nelthorpe?
We are a school with a rich history and a very bright future. We pride ourselves on a culture of mutual respect and high expectations.
Professional Growth: Excellent stepping stone for those pursuing a career in education.
Supportive Environment: You’ll be part of a tight-knit staff body that looks out for one another.
The "Brigg" Advantage: Work in a beautiful market town with a community-focused atmosphere.
Who you are:
Resilient: You stay calm under pressure and handle challenges with a smile.
Communicative: You can explain instructions clearly and engage with young people effectively.
Organised: You can jump into a new subject area at a moment's notice and keep things running smoothly.
Qualified: You possess strong literacy and numeracy skills (Grade C/4 or above in English and Maths).
This is a rewarding and varied role within a busy and vibrant school environment.
Previous experience in a school setting or working with young people is desirable but not essential – full training and induction will be provided.
Closing Date for Applications: 9am on Monday 23rd March 2026
