About Us
The Dormant Distillery Company operate one of Scotlands leading Whisky Specialist retailers and wholesalers, Royal Mile Whiskies. Founded in 1998, the company also run a specialist tobacconist on the Royal Mile, The Cigar Box, and in 2011 opened specialist drinks retail shops in Edinburgh and Pitlochry, Drinkmonger, with the vision to provide the most comprehensive range of quality alcohol products in Scotland.
Along with their online business through and, the company have also developed a wholesale business, supplying the on trade across Scotland and beyond.
We are now opening a new Royal Mile Whiskies store in St Andrews. This will be our first store to incorporate The Cigar Box within the Royal Mile Whiskies store, bringing together premium spirits, wine, beer and cigars in a single specialist retail environment.
The Role
An opportunity has arisen to join the team as Retail Supervisor in our new St Andrews store.
As a Supervisor, you will play a key role on the shop floor, supporting the Branch Manager and helping guide the team during daily trading. This is a hands on retail role focused on customer service, product knowledge and leading by example.
You will help organise the day, support staff, and ensure customers receive knowledgeable and welcoming service. You will also take responsibility for opening and closing the store as a keyholder.
The store includes The Cigar Box range, so alongside drinks knowledge you should have an interest in learning about cigars. Previous cigar knowledge is not required but enthusiasm to learn is important.
Responsibilities
Customer Service and Shop Floor Leadership
* Deliver excellent customer service and product advice
* Support colleagues on the shop floor and lead shifts
* Assist customers with product selection and recommendations
* Create a welcoming environment for regular and new customers
Team Support
* Assist with staff training and development
* Provide guidance and feedback to team members
* Support the Manager in organising daily tasks and priorities
Store Operations
* Open and close the store as a keyholder
* Maintain merchandising and display standards
* Support stock control, deliveries and replenishment
* Ensure accurate cash handling and till procedures
Events and Product Knowledge
* Support tastings and in store events
* Develop product knowledge across spirits, wine, beer and cigars
* Encourage team knowledge and confidence with customers
Compliance
* Follow licensing requirements and Challenge 25
* Support safe and secure retail operations
Job Requirements
* Previous retail or hospitality supervisory or senior sales experience
* Strong customer service and communication skills
* Confidence working on a busy shop floor
* Organised and reliable approach
* Interest in premium drinks
* Willingness to learn cigar product knowledge

This is a 40 hour per week, permanent post. The store is open 7 days and shifts will include evenings and weekends.
