An excellent opportunity has arisen for an aspirational and motivated individual to work in a senior role within the Team. Pharmacy is seen as a key resource in the within our specialist
Cardiology department. We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic Pharmacist to lead on services to the Cardiology department, whilst also playing a senior role within the Pharmacy team alongside other Specialist Lead Pharmacists.
The department has a strong commitment to advancing Pharmacy Practice and embedding effective Medicines Management systems into patient care and is now looking to appoint a dynamic individual with good organisational and communication skills who is keen to be
involved in the development of the Clinical Pharmacy service provided to Cardiology patients. Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team you will provide a comprehensive and high-quality clinical service.
The successful candidate will work at a senior level within the service and play an influential role in the patients care pathway whilst building upon proven clinical skills. The combination of responsibilities will significantly facilitate your growth in both the clinical and leadership aspect of this role.
You will work closely with the multidisciplinary team to promote clinical and cost-effective prescribing through evidence-based guidelines. The post holder will develop, audit and monitor Medicines Management processes within the service and provide training and
supervision to departmental staff.
In addition to well-developed communication and leadership skills you will have previous experience of working within a clinical environment and will have completed a post-graduate diploma in clinical pharmacy. Evidence of multi-disciplinary teamwork would be advantageous.
Training and support will be provided. A commitment to continuing professional development is essential. It is envisaged that the candidate will possess a prescribing qualification or be prepared to work towards one

To lead and manage day-to-day deliver y of clinical pharmacy services to the Medical- Cardi ology wards .
To develop, evaluate the clinical pharmacy services and deliver improvements to better meet the needs of the Medical- Cardi ology areas ; in accordance with the objectives agreed with the Assistant Director of Pharmacy – Clinical services.
To ensure a consistently high level of pharmaceutical service is provided in-line with service objectives.
To provide a framework for the safe, effective and economic use of medicine resources within the specialist clinical area utilising sound medicines management and clinical governance principles.
To develop and maintain general Hospital Pharmacy skills and specialist knowledge in medicines used in the treatment of Cardi ology and Medical patients.
To act as a key resource of expertise and knowledge for the Pharmacy D epartment and wider T rust within the S pecialist C linical P harmacy area .
To prescribe in line with Trust policies and procedures (Subject to necessary qualification).
To provide a S pecialist Clinical P harmacy service to the Cardi ology and General Medicine directorat e .
To provide expert pharmaceutical knowledge and advice to the wider MDT in supporting the care of cardiology patients and medical patients.
Assist the C ard iology and General Medicine directorate in control of their annual drug expenditure.
To maintain a commitment to advancing clinical skills, knowledge and practice within the Specialist area of C ardiology, attending weekly teaching sessions and other opportunities for development.
To utilise specialist knowledge and skills to develop the students, trainee and rotational Pharmacists by providing opportunities for teaching sessions.
To play a key role in the Trusts agenda for the prevention of hospital acquired infections and prudent antibiotic usage; working to meet the agenda set out by the antimicrobial stewardship committee.
To contribute to the Antimicrobial stewardship programme at Blackpool Teaching Hospitals under the direction of the Lead Pharmacist Antimicrobials.
