Overview
Join a pioneering biotech shaping the future of cancer research. At Carcinotech, we are revolutionising cancer drug development by combining 3D bioprinting technology with patient data to engineer tumour models that reflect the complexity of cancer biology. Our mission is to enable smarter, faster, and more effective therapies for patients. We are seeking a talented and motivated Senior Biologist to play a critical role in developing and advancing our 3D tumour models.
This is a unique opportunity to join an innovative and ambitious company making a real difference in global healthcare.
What you’ll be doing
You’ll be working hands-on at the cutting edge of cancer biology, applying your expertise in cell culture and 3D models to help us push the boundaries of what’s possible.
* Performing aseptic culture, expansion, and maintenance of tumour cells from human patient biopsies.
* Collaborating with bioprinting scientists to ensure high-quality cells are integrated into the printing process.
* Monitoring cell morphology and health of post-bioprinted 3D models.
* Developing and optimising protocols for 3D scaffolds, extracellular matrix integration, and media formulations with supplements.
* Establishing robust cryopreservation techniques for cells pre- and post-bioprinting.
* Taking ownership of lab health & safety standards, stock management, and electronic lab notes (Benchling).
What we’re looking for
We are searching for a scientist with a blend of technical skill, creativity, and curiosity.
* BSc or MSc in cell biology, bioengineering, tissue engineering, or related discipline.
* Proven hands-on experience with 3D cell culture techniques (e.g. spheroids, organoids).
* Excellent problem-solving and data analysis skills.
* Strong communicator, both within the lab and with collaborators.
* Natural mentor – keen to support and guide junior colleagues.
* Organised, detail-oriented, and thrives in a fast-paced research environment.
