Closing date: 7 Feb 2024

Following a recent internal promotion within our Human Resources team, we are seeking an experienced Strategic HR Business Partner to join our successful team. We are on an ambitious journey, and you could help us build on our significant achievements over the past 12 months. Our Town House Strategy is transforming our students’ education by embedding the future skills sought after by business and the professions across our curriculum and the People Plan is integral to achieving our vision.

As a key member of HR, you will be part of an inclusive, dynamic and vibrant team, committed to evolving and supporting strategic people requirements of our University in line with our values: Inclusion, Innovation, Ambitious and Enterprising. You will provide a consultative HR service to your assigned Faculty/Directorate and support their strategic people priorities, embedding key people initiatives. Working in conjunction with members of the HR Leadership Team, and in partnership with the Senior Leadership Team, you will align the University’s Town House Strategy through our People Plan using an evidence-based approach to workforce planning.

The role will play a vital part in the implementation of all University strategies and interrelated people initiatives. You will need clear business and academic focus to provide expert advice to stakeholders at multiple senior levels on their people matters. You will also provide a solution-focused HR service to customers and implement change effectively, ensuring we have engagement strategies and data-led decision making.

The Person

The ideal candidate will use their consulting skills to look at system-wide issues that are impacting the delivery of the university’s aims, both locally and strategically. At the same time, the senior management team regularly enlist HR expertise for complex change programmes which range from implementation of new business processes to large-scale strategic initiatives to enhance services to students.

The HR function provides the strategy and infrastructure to enable Kingston University to achieve its core purpose. The successful candidate will be joining an experienced and talented team of HR professionals who work in partnership with academic and professional services to achieve the overall aims for the University.

We have a modern agile working space shared with other professional services staff. We anticipate the need to be on campus around three days per week. Our campus is buzzing with students and staff, and our award-winning Town House building means this is an inspiring and inviting place to work.

Further Information

This is a full-time (37 hours per week) permanent position, with a salary of up to £62,087 per annum (dependent on experience).

You will be based at our Penrhyn Road campus but will be required to be flexible and work across all of our campuses, as required.

Interviews are due to be held on the week commencing 19 February 2024.
For informal enquiries, please contact Head of HR BP & EDI, Anne McCaffrey (A.McCaffrey@kingston.ac.uk) in the first instance.

We offer a range of benefits, including:

* 35 days annual leave per annum.
* Flexible working - we support a culture that is both flexible and agile working, to help you find the right balance. Most of our colleagues work part of the week on campus, and part from home. Wellbeing support – dedicated services and facilities to support your mental and physical health, ranging from an Employee Assistance Programme and counselling, to sports and fitness facilities, including discounted gym memberships.

Bring your true self, expertise, and passion to Kingston where we are continuing to strive to build a university where authentic inclusion and belonging is at its heart. Every one of our staff and students’ identities, backgrounds, and diverse experiences makes us who we are - so harness and embrace yours by applying today. We welcome applications from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic backgrounds, LGBTQ+ communities and those with disabilities.

Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006. Where required, this may include entry clearance or continued leave to remain under the Points Based Immigration Scheme.
