Are you passionate about Flood Risk and looking to expand your portfolio within a leading design consultancy? We are looking for a Flood Risk Engineer to support the delivery of flood risk assessment projects to work collaboratively on technically complex projects for a range of large-scale projects. You’ll be working hybrid within Bristol; however you will liaise with the wider teams across the country in other technical areas within the Flood Risk & Drainage team. You can expect to be involved in flood risk modelling, LLFA technical services and flood management solutions, as well as other water environment technical areas including Water EIA, WFD assessment, permitting applications, etc.
The role is to carry out Flood Risk Assessments for major infrastructure projects in the UK and overseas, with wider involvement in flood modelling, flood management and Water EIA. You will share technical expertise and mentor more junior team members, carry out flood risk assessments and prepare deliverables, and support complementary projects while developing skills in areas such as sustainable drainage design, planning application reviews, Local Flood Risk Management Strategies, permitting applications, and environmental assessments. You will also conduct site surveys to collect baseline information and support Section 19 investigations, take leadership of certain project management activities (financial and programme management), and communicate effectively with the project team while working collaboratively within the team and proactively supporting junior staff in developing their technical knowledge and understanding of tasks assigned.

The role
* To be able to carry out Flood Risk Assessments for major infrastructure projects in the UK and overseas, with wider involvement in flood modelling, flood management and Water EIA.
* Sharing your technical expertise and mentoring more junior members in the team will also be part of your role.
* Carrying out flood risk assessments and preparing deliverables.
* Supporting complementary projects and developing skills in areas such as sustainable drainage design, planning application reviews, preparing Local Flood Risk Management Strategies, permitting applications, and environmental assessments.
* Carrying out site surveys to collect baseline information and support Section 19 investigations.
* Taking leadership of certain project management activities including financial and programme management.
* Communicating and liaising effectively and efficiently with the project team
* Working collaboratively within the team and proactively supporting junior staff in developing their technical knowledge and understanding of tasks assigned.
What you need to succeed
* A degree in a relevant environmental, geographical, science or engineering discipline is essential
* Actively working towards chartered status with C.WEM, CEnv, CSci or CEng
* Experience of Flood Risk Assessment preparation, and experience in one or more of the typical supporting skills including flood risk modelling, flood risk strategy development, drainage design or Water EIA, at least some of which should have been in consultancy.
* Experience of providing technical inputs for planning and permitting for major infrastructure projects.
