Traditionally in the areas of decommissioning and waste management, NSG now has a broad customer base and provides a wide spectrum of services across the nuclear project lifecycle, ranging from expert consultancy support, R&D and engineering design to rekit and refurbishment, site installation services and high-hazard physical decommissioning works, amongst others. This work is delivered at NSG’s own offices and purpose-built facilities and nuclear sites across the UK. The delivery and management of these projects and programmes of work is carried out by a skilled workforce composed of both white-collar and blue-collar personnel in technical, administrative, and physical roles. The Role To competently perform the duties of a qualified technician as part of a team engaged in the installation, modification, maintenance, repair, testing and trials of all types of systems and equipment as instructed by Project Manager / Supervisor / Project Engineer, in accordance with relevant drawings and Safe Systems of Work. Key Objectives Perform technician tasks encountered in activities such as: Installation Operations (including testing and trials) Maintenance Carry out and support assembly, installation, modification, EMIT (examination, maintenance, inspection & test) and decommissioning tasks as required Work from schematics / diagrams / drawings to install equipment Install systems and equipment in such a way as to comply with any relevant regulatory or legislative requirements Complete and maintain as necessary all associated records and documentation Person Specification Qualifications Educated to degree level or equivalent in a technical discipline or equivalent in a technical discipline Membership of appropriate professional institute IOSH ‘Managing Safely’ or formal H&S qualification- Relevant training will be provided if required Experience & Knowledge Previous technical capacity in a highly regulated industry Demonstrable experience in the production of manufacturable concept and detail design using appropriate software products Familiar with recognised quality system & requirements Familiar with radiological protection, its management and operation Skills & Abilities Competent user of MS Office and CAD software as appropriate Preparation of concept and detail design Interpretation and evaluation of technical data Package - Staff only Hours - 37.5 hours per week Overtime – 37.5-60hours per week – Time and half Overtime – 60 hours per week or Sundays – Double time Life Assurance 3x Salary Private Healthcare package Pension – Company contributes 5% Individual contributes 4% Discretionary bonus 187.5 hours per year holiday allowance Professional memberships covered Large Training and Development budge available.
