Main purposes of the role
To provide a comprehensive telephony-based ER advice service to the UK and Ireland business, offering timely advice and guidance on a wide range of employee relations matters, including investigations, disciplinary and grievance matters.
What you'll do
Provide specialist telephony-based expert ER advice, ensuring matters are resolved quickly and effectively, in compliance with our People policies and up to date employment legislation, using a commercial and pragmatic approach
Coach and influence senior managers on ER matters to develop their knowledge, abilities, and behaviours.
Provide great customer service, building relationships with managers and stakeholders at all levels to achieve desired objectives
Support managers where necessary with writing complex ER letters and investigation reports
Update case information timely and accurately to ensure that data is stored safely, and that subsequent reporting is accurate and credible
Escalate cases by exception to the relevant team where matters are highly complex or involve high risk.
Deliver agreed personal and functional KPI’s, and contribute to the achievement of the team’s objectives
Use expert ER knowledge and experience to spot and suggest opportunities for improvement for the team, policy, or wider business
Support with ad-hoc ER or change related projects across the business as required
What do we look for in our ER Specialist:
Extensive knowledge of UK employment law (knowledge of Irish employment law is desirable), HR policies and procedures, including employment contracts, disciplinary, grievance, attendance, family friendly, performance management and right to work.
Substantial practical experience of coaching and advising managers on a full range of employment matters, up to and including dismissal/final appeal.
Effective communication and influencing skills, with the ability to articulate information clearly and concisely both verbally and in written format
Knowledge and practical experience of using people management systems
CIPD level 5 or above, or relevant practical ER experience
Experience of operating in an HR role with a high-volume ER case load, ideally either within a shared service centre environment or within a challenging and / or fast-paced organisation
Knowledge of Irish employment law
