The successful candidate will contribute to the delivery of civil, structural & geotechnical temporary works designs across the GRAHAM business. Provide technical support for live projects and tenders, ensuring all solutions are safe, buildable, and compliant with GRAHAM Policies and Procedures for temporary works.
We have a team of experienced engineers and technicians with expertise in civil, structural, and geotechnical disciplines, offering services such as 3D CAD, Navisworks, 3D Laser Scanning, BIM Visualisation, and Vehicle Swept Path Analysis.
A Temporary Works Design Engineer must manage their workload efficiently, maintain their CPD, and support the development of colleagues. They should foster knowledge sharing within the team.
Typical Duties:
* Manage all aspects of temporary works design and checking for tender and construction phases of UK and Ireland projects, using various materials.
* Prepare safe, buildable, and efficient temporary works designs in accordance with relevant codes.
* Produce calculations, drawings, and risk assessments under tight deadlines, covering structural steel, concrete, timber, piling, crane platforms, hoarding, formwork, scaffolding, slope stability, and ground support systems.
* Ensure designs adhere to quality procedures and are fully consulted on with relevant parties.
* Advise on temporary conditions or loads affecting permanent works design.
* Ensure independent checks of designs for adequacy and compliance.
* Assist in reviewing and certifying designs by others/subcontractors.
* Ensure compliance with CDM requirements.
* Provide timely advice to construction teams, adapting to changing site conditions.
* Support estimating teams with costs, programmes, and sequencing.
* Provide information for procurement of materials and subcontractors.
* Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and mentor less experienced engineers.
* Conduct site visits to inspect temporary works and resolve buildability issues.
* Introduce improvements and innovations where appropriate.
* Work as part of a team, managing multiple priorities and reacting to site requirements.
* Contribute to team development and continuous improvement initiatives.
