Overview
University Hospitals Sussex (East) is offering fellow posts available from December 2025 for 12 months to undertake projects in perioperative care. These posts are designed to provide participation in major quality improvement and research within the department, with opportunities for career development in a busy teaching hospital. The posts offer broad clinical experience alongside non-clinical projects and are intended to support preparation for competitive ST4 or CESR applications and for expanding your career portfolio ahead of consultant applications.
Training and educational supervision will be provided to the level of the KSS Graduate Education and Assessment Regulations. The post holder will be encouraged to take an active role in all departmental activities including Audit and Research. A previous post in the NHS or a clinical attachment is desirable. UHS is affiliated with Brighton and Sussex Medical School (BSMS), and the anaesthetic department is closely involved with undergraduate training of BSMS students. Responsibilities
* Undertake projects in perioperative care.
* Participate in major quality improvement and research within the department.
* Engage in non-clinical projects and career development activities to support preparation for ST4/CESR applications.
* Contribute to departmental activities including Audit and Research and receive training supervision to the level of KSS regulations.
* Support teaching and involvement in undergraduate education where applicable.
Qualifications and Experience
* A previous post in the NHS or a clinical attachment is desirable.
