Overview

Hours: 27.5 hours per week Monday - Friday (Term-Time Only)

Pay: £13.68 per hour

Start Date: September

Location: Newcastle

Contract: Temporary ongoing

Are you enthusiastic about supporting young people with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs? Do you have the resilience and sense of humour needed to make a real difference?

We are recruiting for a Behaviour Support Worker to join a specialist SEMH alternative education provider in Newcastle. This role is expected to continue until the end of the academic year and beyond, with opportunities for permanent employment.


Responsibilities

* Supporting students who experience barriers to learning due to SEMH needs and challenging behaviour
* Building positive relationships to engage and motivate young people
* Implementing behaviour strategies to support emotional regulation and learning
* Working closely with teaching staff and external professionals to provide tailored support


What We Are Looking For

* Experience working with young people in an education, care, or support setting
* Understanding of mental health needs and neurological conditions
* A resilient nature, positive attitude, and a good sense of humour
* The ability to remain calm under pressure and adapt to challenging situations
* While formal experience in a similar role is beneficial, we welcome applicants with transferable skills from youth work, sports coaching, residential care, or similar backgrounds.
