General Practitioner - Woodlands Medical Centre
We are looking to welcome an enthusiastic and motivated Salaried GP to join our friendly, supportive and forward-thinking team at Woodlands Medical Centre. This is an excellent opportunity for a GP seeking 58 sessions per week within a collaborative practice that values teamwork and professional development.
Main duties of the job
The main duties of the role include:
Delivering high-quality, compassionate and person-centred care through a mixture of routine and same-day consultations, including face-to-face, telephone and online appointments.
Managing a varied and rewarding clinical caseload encompassing acute presentations, chronic disease management, health promotion and preventative care.
Working closely with our experienced multidisciplinary team to provide safe, effective and well-coordinated care for patients.
Contributing to clinical meetings, service development and quality improvement initiatives within a progressive and forward-thinking practice.
Promoting continuity of care and developing strong, trusted relationships with our diverse patient population.
Maintaining accurate, clear and timely clinical records in accordance with professional and regulatory standards.
Participating in practice governance, safeguarding responsibilities and continuing professional development within a supportive learning environment.
About us
We are a friendly, forward-thinking and supportive urban GMS practice located on the western outskirts of Cardiff, with excellent access to the M4 and Cardiff city centre. We pride ourselves on creating a positive working environment with a strong emphasis on flexibility, teamwork and worklife balance.
Our well-established practice cares for approximately 9,500 patients and is supported by a highly experienced and collaborative multidisciplinary team, including 6 GP Partners, 2 salaried GPs, 3 practice nurses and 2 HCAs. We work from modern, partnership-owned premises and provide a wide range of clinical services, including minor surgery, coils and implants.
We are fortunate to have excellent support from our experienced nursing and administrative teams, as well as clinical pharmacists who provide prescribing support and a dedicated chronic pain clinic. As a GP training practice with active involvement in medical student teaching, we are committed to education, professional development and fostering the next generation of clinicians.
As a member of the Cardiff South West Cluster, we work closely with local partners to deliver innovative, patient-centred care to improve wellbeing across our community. Current collaborative initiatives include MDT meetings, social prescribing and paediatric clinics.

Job responsibilities
The post holder will:
Provide comprehensive general medical services to the practice population.
Undertake a variety of consultation types including face-to-face, telephone, video and online consultations.
Diagnose and manage acute and chronic illness.
Provide health promotion, screening and preventative care.
Manage patients with complex and long-term conditions in partnership with the wider clinical team.
Carry out home visits where clinically appropriate.
Prescribe in accordance with NHS Wales guidance and local formularies.
Make appropriate referrals to secondary care and community services.
Provide medical advice and support to the practice team.
Support the care of patients in local care homes where applicable.
Maintain accurate, contemporaneous and legible clinical records.
Team Working and Communication
Work collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team including nurses, pharmacists, allied health professionals and administrative staff.
Participate in regular clinical meetings and case discussions.
Contribute to a positive, supportive and inclusive team culture.
Communicate effectively with patients, carers, colleagues and external agencies.
Quality, Safety and Governance
Participate in clinical governance and quality improvement activity.
Contribute to significant event reviews and clinical audits.
Follow practice policies, protocols and NHS Wales guidance.
Maintain awareness of safeguarding responsibilities for children and vulnerable adults.
Support risk management and patient safety initiatives.
Participate in complaints review where appropriate.
Teaching and Training
Contribute to the education of GP registrars, medical students and other learners where appropriate.
Support the learning and development of the wider practice team.
Participate in peer review and shared learning.
Professional Development
Maintain full registration with the GMC and inclusion on the GP Performers List for Wales.
Maintain appraisal and revalidation requirements.
Keep up to date with national guidance and best practice.
Administrative Responsibilities
Process clinical correspondence and results in a timely manner.
Complete reports and documentation as required.
Contribute to practice development and service planning.
Use clinical systems in line with practice policy.
Flexibility
The post holder may be required to undertake other duties appropriate to the role in line with service needs.

Qualifications
* Fully qualified GP with GMC registration and licence to practise
* Inclusion on the GP Performers List
* Evidence of other specialist interest, development, training
Experience
* Experience in general practice and working in a multidisciplinary team
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills - both written and verbal

* Experience of undertaking audits in general practice and quality improvement
