Our team of hands-on experts helps a blue chip client base of global OEMs and suppliers secure next-generation vehicles and mobility solutions through cybersecurity-by-design, testing and validation, competitive benchmarking and cutting-edge research and development. Introduction

This is a full-time office/lab-based role for an Automotive Cybersecurity Engineer

Location: Milton Keynes, UK.

Salary range: £50,000 - £75,000 depending on skills and experience


An exciting opportunity to apply your technical cybersecurity expertise on cutting-edge projects with leading automotive clients. In this hands-on engineering role, you will apply advanced penetration testing, benchmarking, PoC development and security engineering techniques to evaluate and strengthen the resilience of next-generation automotive technologies.


You will conduct in-depth assessments of diverse systems including ECUs, charging infrastructure, wireless technologies, mobile applications, software-defined vehicles & backend systems and deliver clear, actionable recommendations to global clients through assessment reports, presentations and workshops. This is a unique chance to join the rapidly evolving automotive cybersecurity domain and play a key role in shaping the security of future mobility solutions worldwide.


The Role

The position is predominantly lab-based, with responsibilities including:

* Planning and executing a variety of penetration testing projects on vehicle components and associated telematics infrastructure including whole vehicles.
* Performing technical benchmarking of components, systems and vehicles.
* Developing cybersecurity proof-of-concepts.
* Providing cybersecurity recommendations to mitigate cybersecurity risks.
* Undertaking ad hoc automotive security research and TARA.
* Opportunities for overseas travel.

Technical Requirements

Essential Skills & Experience

We are looking for candidates with a strong technical background in electronics, embedded software, web/mobile applications and networking, along with experience in penetration testing or security software development. Whilst we don’t expect you to have experience in every area listed below, a solid foundation in several of them is important:


* At least 2+ years of experience in penetration testing and/or cybersecurity design/development of embedded systems or IoT device software.
* Familiarity with Linux environments and scripting languages such as Bash or Python.
* Hands-on experience with hardware tools (oscilloscopes, logic analysers, debuggers/programmers, memory dumping toolkits).
* Exposure to USB, Bluetooth/BLE, Wi-Fi, or Cellular interfaces (development or testing).
* Knowledge of network penetration tools such as Nmap, Metasploit, and Burp Suite.
* Good understanding of TCP/IP protocols and the OSI model.
* Experience with firmware reverse engineering using tools like IDA Pro or Ghidra.
* Background in developing or testing web and mobile applications (Android, iOS).
* Familiarity with API and infrastructure development/penetration testing.
* Experience with advanced hardware exploitations including Fault Injection and Side Channel attacks.


Desirable Skills & Experience

* Industry certifications such as OSCP, eWPT, etc.
* Experience in automotive system design or testing.
* Knowledge of automotive communication protocols (CAN, LIN, FlexRay, Automotive Ethernet).
