Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Assistant Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in food preparation and safety, with experience in a restaurant or hospitality environment. As an Assistant Chef, you will support the Head Chef in the daily operations of the kitchen, ensuring that high standards of food quality and presentation are maintained. You will be also be in charge of the kitchen in the Head Chef's absence. You will be required to be flexible in your approach to hours and days worked.
Duties
* Assist in the preparation and cooking of meals according to established recipes and standards.
* Ensure all food is prepared in compliance with food safety regulations and hygiene standards.
* Supervise kitchen staff during food production to ensure efficient workflow and quality control.
* Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area, including equipment and utensils.
* Collaborate with the Head Chef to plan menus and develop new dishes.
* Monitor inventory levels of ingredients and supplies, assisting with ordering as needed.
* Provide training and guidance to junior kitchen staff, fostering a positive team environment.
* Participate in daily kitchen operations, including food plating and presentation for service.
Requirements
* Proven experience in a restaurant or culinary setting is essential.
* Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques and food safety practices.
* Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced kitchen environment while maintaining attention to detail.
* Excellent leadership skills with the ability to supervise and motivate a team.
* Passion for cooking and a desire to learn and grow within the culinary field.
* Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings and weekends as required.
* A culinary qualification or relevant training is advantageous but not mandatory.
