About this role
We are looking for a Senior Lecturer in Speech and Language to lead the delivery of a new BSc (Hons) Speech and Language course that commences in September 2026. Senior Lecturers contribute to teaching, quality assurance compliance, partnership working, research and income generation in the school. As this is a new area to the school, the appointed post holder will be the programme co-ordinator, and co-ordinate the team involved, in progressing the course forward through a successful validation, student recruitment and implementation of the curriculum. You will have leadership experience, knowledge and skills within the field of Speech & Language Therapy and education, having experience of one or more of the following: working with children and young people/mental health/learning disability/diverse settings will be an advantage. You will share your expert professional knowledge to a broader audience thus ensuring a curriculum which is contemporary and prepares all learners to engage in any aspect of Speech and Language therapy whilst working closely with and developing relationships with employer partners.
About you
You will be an expert/leader in your field with a broad understanding of educational practices, particular in work related learning. You may be seeking an academic role to expand your current practice/research or a secondment opportunity.

We aim to ensure that we equip our graduates with the skills necessary to succeed in the workplace upon graduation and throughout their professional careers. As such, we not only focus on the acquisition of knowledge, but also on vital transferable skills, such as compassionate leadership and robust digital skills.
Evidence of any of the following will be an advantage: Masters level education, Fellowship of Higher Education Academy, Publications in peer-reviewed journals, consultancy delivery and development, research income generation, or the desire and potential to develop in these areas.
Successful applicants will have:
1. Degree and/or Postgraduate qualification in Speech and Language Therapy validated by the RCSLT
2. Current HCPC registration with no restrictions
3. Recent Clinical practice experience in the UK
4. Experience of practice education or supporting/supervising/teaching students in Higher Education
5. Membership of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists
6. Recent UK based clinical practice experience
7. Demonstrable evidence of continuing professional development
8. Recognised teaching qualification OR be willing to work towards gaining one
9. Be able to travel to our campus regularly
