Process Technician – Sterile Services
Location: Tiverton HSSU Hub – Sterile Services, Permanent, Full‑time. Salary up to £24,358.47 per annum with a 30% evening shift increment for work after 7 pm and before 7 am, and 20% on weekend hours before 7 pm. 37.5 hours per week – Evening Shift, Tuesday to Saturday 6 pm to 2 am.
Main duties of the job
As a Process Technician, you will support surgical operations by processing medical instruments and ensuring they remain sterile, safe, and ready for use. You will help maintain equipment, keep a clean working environment, and collaborate with a highly skilled team to achieve high standards of patient safety.
Job responsibilities
Working in our Tiverton HSSU Hub, you will bring a basic standard of general education with proven literacy and numeracy skills. Full training will be given to the right candidate. Basic computer skills are vital to the role.
 * Process medical instruments for surgical operations.
 * Learn the importance of sterile instruments from start to finish.
 * Ensure all instruments are in good working order and understand their names and uses.
 * Regularly check medical equipment for damage and report any faults.
 * Maintain a clean and tidy work environment.
 * Take action to resolve any problems.
 * Escalate issues where necessary.
 * Maintain accurate records and documentation in line with our policies and procedures.
 * Work with a highly skilled team.
 * Evening shift automatically paid a 30% enhancement to salary on hours worked after 7 pm and before 7 am, and 20% extra on weekend hours before 7 pm.
 * Full training given.

Qualifications
 * Basic standard of general education with proven literacy and numeracy skills.
 * Organised with good communication skills.
 * Evidence of sterile services training is preferred but not required – full training will be provided.
Experience
 * Relevant experience in sterile services or a similar environment is advantageous.
 * Previous experience in processing medical instruments or equipment maintenance.
 * Knowledge of infection control and equipment inspection procedures.
