Ward Clerk - Acute Medical Unit

The closing date is 10 November 2025

This is a fantastic opportunity for a self‑motivated individual to join our existing team to provide efficient admin and clerical support to the Acute Medical Unit.

The working pattern is various shifts Monday - Sunday, to include nights:

* Early Shift – 07:00 – 15:00
* Middle Shift – 11:00 – 19:00
* Late Shift – 14:00 – 22:00
* Nightshift – 21:00 – 07:00

You must have excellent inter‑personal skills and be able to work both alone and as part of a team. This post demands a candidate who pays attention to detail, is well organised and flexible.

A good standard of education is essential with a minimum GCSE Grade C (or equivalent) in Maths and English. You must be IT literate.


Main duties of the job

The post holder will be responsible for providing an effective and well‑organised administration/reception service to the Acute Medical Unit.

Person Specification


Qualifications & Training

* GCSE/'O' Level or equivalent; Maths and English (Grade C or above)
* Keyboard Skills; IT Qualification or demonstrate through experience
* Customer Care Training/Experience
* RSA stage 1 or equivalent


Knowledge & Experience

* Previous office/clerical experience
* Experience of CAMIS or large mainframe database
* Previous hospital experience
* Experience of working unsupervised
* Knowledge of Medical Terminology
