Senior Building Control Surveyor (Class 2E Registered)
Location: Blackpool (Hybrid – Remote Working with Site Visits & Occasional Office Attendance)
Contract: Ongoing Temporary Contract
Hours: Full-Time, 37 Hours per Week
Pay Rate: £23.69 per hour (PAYE/Umbrella options available)
Seven Resourcing is currently recruiting for a highly skilled Senior Building Control Surveyor to join a forward-thinking local authority team in Blackpool. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced professional within building control, construction, or surveying to deliver a critical regulatory service ensuring compliance with Building Regulations and safety standards.
This role offers a flexible hybrid working model, combining remote working with site inspections and occasional office attendance, making it ideal for experienced surveyors seeking autonomy and variety.
Key Responsibilities
Building Control & Compliance
* Undertake plan assessments and site inspections to ensure compliance with Building Regulations and the Building Act 1984
* Manage a portfolio of development projects, including new builds, regularisations, and reversion applications
* Provide expert advice on fire safety, structural integrity, accessibility, sustainability, and energy efficiency
Case Management & Enforcement
* Manage a caseload within your level of competence, including enforcement actions where required
* Assess dangerous structures and implement immediate remedial measures
* Maintain accurate records of inspections, assessments, and compliance decisions
Technical Expertise & Leadership
* Support and supervise junior surveyors, trainees, and assistants where appropriate
* Provide guidance within the Building Control team framework
* Contribute to maintaining high standards of technical delivery and regulatory compliance
Multi-Agency Collaboration
* Liaise with external stakeholders including Fire Services, Police, contractors, and professional consultants
* Work collaboratively with internal departments to ensure effective service delivery
* Represent the service in discussions relating to building safety and compliance
Requirements
To be considered for this Senior Building Control Surveyor Job in Blackpool, you must have:
* Registration with the Building Safety Regulator (minimum Class 2E – Assessment & Inspection)
* Full membership with a recognised professional body such as CABE, RICS, or CIOB
* Minimum 5 years’ experience in Building Control or a related field
* Strong knowledge of Building Regulations, Building Act 1984, and construction standards
* Experience conducting site inspections, plan appraisals, and enforcement actions
Key Skills
* Strong technical knowledge of construction and regulatory compliance
* Ability to manage multiple projects and caseloads independently
* Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
* High attention to detail and report-writing abilities
* Ability to make sound decisions in high-risk or complex situations

* Full UK Driving Licence
* Access to a vehicle for site visits
