Duties:
* To triage and assess students with safeguarding, mental health, anxiety and other vulnerabilities and support or refer on as appropriate.
* To support individual students on safeguarding concerns on a one:one basis to develop their emotional health and well-being.
* Developing and delivering external and internal interventions, liaising with external agencies, parents, carers and others as appropriate.
* Contribute to supporting students to develop their own health and wellbeing, through organising external events, enrichment and contributing to the tutorial bulletins.
* Liaise with internal and externals services to support students deemed 'at risk' due to vulnerabilities, ensuring attendance at meetings and regular updates are given in accordance with requests from external agencies and internal staff
* Support transition of vulnerable students into the College, working in conjunction with the team.
* Respond to Safeguarding concerns making the necessary referrals. Maintain and update records of all student interactions in line with college processes and procedures
* Attend multiagency meetings, as required ensuring all follow up is actioned appropriately.
* Maintain own professional development and update knowledge regularly as appropriate.
* Maintain own caseloads of supported students, creating detailed record of cases and student outcomes in order to contribute to the monitoring and evaluation of team using qualitative and quantitative data.
* In this role you may be required to support the team/attend meetings at our campuses at the request of the DSL.
Skills/Experience:
* Effective knowledge of Safeguarding processes and procedures
* Significant experience of supporting children and vulnerable adults with challenging circumstances
* Significant experience of working with external agencies, and stakeholders
* Experience of supporting children and vulnerable adults with their mental health and understanding the barriers to learning faced
* Experience of managing complex caseloads
Qualifications:
* Minimum GCSE grade 4 / C in English & Maths or equivalent.
* One or more of the following;
Psychology/education (supporting/teaching) / Youth Work/ Health and Wellbeing qualification
* Mental Health Qualification
* Designated Safeguarding Lead or willing to obtain
Ideal Attributes:
* Excellent organisational skills with the ability to work off of own initiative and manage complex caseloads
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to develop effective working relationships with students, agencies, parents/carers
* Capacity to use IT systems to record and manage student interventions
* Excellent listening skills with the ability to deescalate in challenging situations
