Role Overview
KERB Events Limited provides our services at many live events, including at venues such as The KIA Oval, Goodwood Motor Circuit, Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Aston Villa Football Club, Leicester Tigers and Jockey Club Racing venues.
Reporting to the Partnerships Manager, you will be responsible for managing the operational needs and successful running of a range of events across The ExCeL on a freelance basis. Responsible for supporting KERB Traders from setting them up for success with a great load-in through to a well organised load out where you are physically present, and everything in between, in particular conducting thorough Health and Safety checks. This role is well-suited to someone who is hungry to get involved with KERB, with a keen eye for detail, a great understanding of Health & Safety principles, and previous experience of operating & managing large scale events.
We need a talented, enthusiastic team player who is keen to deliver an excellent experience for the customer and client by ensuring that KERB traders have everything they need and all stakeholders are kept fully in the loop. You’ll make sure that the day-to-day operations run smoothly, working with the Partnerships Manager to ensure all health and safety practices are implemented fully. You’ll manage the diverse stakeholders with your excellent communication skills, quality control (this includes eating!) and team and customer engagement are all key components of this role.
A grasp of the street food world and previous experience working on a stall is a big plus here. We need a can-do character with the ambition and expertise to deliver exceptional hospitality and events.
What you’ll be doing
* Liaising with the Partnerships Manager to understand the operational needs of the event in the first instance
* On-site management of the event as the main operational contact, liaising with all the key stakeholders, problem solving, troubleshooting and generally being the go-to person for everything on the ground
* Working with the Partnerships Manager to ensure all recommended health and safety practices are adhered to
* Being present for, and completing, the load-in ready for service and load- out for the traders as KERB’s boots on the ground
* Being the main point of contact for KERB and venue throughout event days
* Liaising effectively with KERB traders and venue contacts to include power, till management, H&S and other operational issues throughout the event
* Performing H&S checks on our food traders to ensure they are meeting KERB standards. Reporting to KERB H&S Managers if there are any concerns or issues
* Continually monitor traders H&S to ensure they are meeting KERB standards throughout service
* Manage the relationship onsite with Excel operations team, to ensure all clients needs are met and traders are working to a high standard
* Support the Partnerships Manager in any admin requirements including till building and documentation completion
* Completion of any event feedback to the Sales Manager, to ensure effective debriefs can take place and any handover documentation is up to date
* On call shifts might also be required where remote support is required with communication between traders and the venue
* Focusing on the customer experience and developing ways to enhance this
* Adhering to the venue’s, procedures and rules, whilst maintaining clear communication
What you’ll bring to KERB
* A clear and detailed understanding of health and safety practices
* Passionate about delivering exceptional hospitality
* A keen commercial eye and attention to detail to identify increased sales opportunities across the site
* Knowledge of electricity, gas and foodservice operations
* Strong people management skills, working with a wide range of stakeholders to deliver the best outcome for KERB and its traders
* Proactive / self-starter able to focus and operate in a free-style work environment
* Excellent people skills, confident talking to customers and traders and developing long-term relationships
* An interest and understanding of the independent street food industry and wider food scene of London
* Positive and flexible attitude, with the ability to think laterally and willing to problem-solve
* Experience in events health & safety and food safety
* Strong understanding of EPOS/till set-up and management – we use GoodTill
* Excellent people skills, with the ability to talk to clients and traders in a consultative manner and developing long-term relationships
* Proactive / self-starter with lots of initiative
* Able to work weekends and evenings depending on the event
Desirable but not essential
* History and experience in street food and/or bars and events would be preferred
