Plumbing and Heating Estimator
LOCATION: HULL (WITH SOME TRAVEL TO SCOTLAND)
SALARY: DOE
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
* Prepare detailed cost estimates for plumbing and heating systems on modular construction projects.
* Interpret architectural and mechanical drawings, specifications, and project requirements.
* Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive quotes and material pricing.
* Develop bills of quantities and schedules of rates.
* Attend pre‑tender meetings and site visits as necessary.
* Ensure estimates are prepared in line with client requirements and submission deadlines.
* Maintain a strong understanding of market conditions, industry trends, and current pricing.
* Collaborate with project managers and other stakeholders to gather necessary information for accurate estimations.
* Maintain comprehensive records of estimates, including calculations and assumptions made during the estimation process.
WHAT YOU'LL BRING
* Proven experience in mechanical estimating, ideally within plumbing and heating for modular construction.
* Strong technical knowledge of plumbing and heating systems, materials, and installation methods.
* Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
* Excellent numerical and analytical skills.
* Strong communication and organisational abilities.
* Self‑motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* A solid understanding of construction processes and materials is advantageous.
* Full UK driving licence (preferred).
Desirable
* NVQ, HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in Building Services, Mechanical Engineering, or similar.
* Experience working with modular building manufacturers or off‑site construction projects.
* Knowledge of renewable heating systems (ASHP, GSHP, solar thermal, etc.).
