Job Overview
The role involves providing senior ward cover, liaising with consultants on inpatients, supporting the acute oncology service, reviewing patients in chemotherapy and day care units, and assisting in other inpatient reviews and clinics, including chemotherapy reviews and other consultant clinics as needed.
Main Duties
1. Be a key member of the oncology team, ensuring comprehensive inpatient care and cover for the acute oncology service.
2. Develop advanced clinical skills, especially in assessing and managing acutely ill patients.
3. Provide ward-based care under supervision of specialty consultants.
4. Assist oncology consultants in clinics reviewing chemotherapy patients.
5. Supervise junior doctors on medical wards and in on-call teams.
6. Work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
7. Meet clinical and quality targets set nationally and locally.
8. Perform emergency procedures such as lumbar puncture, ascitic drain, and chest drains; training available for procedural competencies.
9. Follow patients through their clinical pathways.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* MBBS or equivalent
* MRCP (UK) Part 1 and 2 or equivalent
* Advanced Life Support (ALS) certification or in process of acquiring
Experience
* Full GMC registration and license to practice
* At least 4 years postgraduate experience, with 2 in Oncology
* Competence equivalent to UK foundation, ST1, and ST2 training
* Experience in acute and general medicine at ST2 level or higher for at least 12 months
* Management of medical admissions at ST3+ level
Desirable
* Advanced procedural skills (e.g., chest drains, lumbar punctures)
* Experience supervising junior doctors
* Minimum 1 year UK experience
