We are recruiting an experienced Specialist Nurse (Dermatology) to lead weekend outpatient clinics as part of a brand-new dermatology service at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust.
With over 4,500 patients on the waiting list — including more than 250 who have breached the 65-week target — this service will have a direct impact on patient care and access.
The Specialist Dermatology Lead (SDL) Nurse will provide both hands-on dermatology expertise and leadership to ensure clinics run safely, efficiently, and effectively.
About the Role
Location: Nottingham Treatment Centre, Queen’s Medical Centre Campus, Nottingham (Onsite only)
Contract: Fixed-term, 9 months (with potential extension)
Start Date: October (site visit required beforehand)
Pay Rates: Up to £500 per day
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and oversee dermatology outpatient and minor ops clinics
* Deliver direct patient care in dermatology and skin surgery procedures
* Support consultants in reviewing and treating up to 30 patients per list
* Provide clinical leadership and guidance to HCAs and other nursing staff
* Oversee patient record-keeping, clinic documentation, and smart sheet submissions
* Work closely with the clinical team to ensure service targets are met
Requirements
Significant experience in dermatology outpatients and/or skin surgery clinics
Demonstrated ability to provide clinical leadership in outpatient settings
PVG/DBS clearance (or willingness to obtain)
Consistent weekend availability (Sat–Sun) across the 9-month service
Ability to attend site visit/training before service launch
