Job summary
We have an exciting and rewarding opportunity for a Band 6 Adult Speech and Language Therapist (SLT) to join our well-established, committed, and friendly stroke team at University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust (UHMBT).
You will have existing knowledge and/or skills in working with adults with acquired swallowing and communication differences (ideally across a stroke pathway), with training in dysphagia to at least Level C.
Our team provides clinical input across the entire stroke pathway from acute to community settings, working closely with multidisciplinary colleagues as part of an Integrated Community Stroke Service. We also run our own Videofluoroscopy clinic.
Main duties of the job
The stroke team is part of the Adult Speech and Language Therapy service at UHMBT, which also covers pathways in non-stroke, head and neck, and voice. We promote a 'grow your own' ethos with regular supervision, peer support, professional development, and wider multidisciplinary links. The service is supported by a Clinical and Professional Lead and is embedded within the Lancashire and South Cumbria Integrated Care System, enabling involvement in national and regional workforce initiatives.
The post is initially based at Furness General Hospital but may require working across Morecambe Bay. Future expectations include working as part of a six-day service.
If you are a motivated, flexible, and forward-thinking Band 5 SLT ready to develop into a more senior role, or a current Band 6 SLT wishing to consolidate your skills in a supportive environment, we would love to hear from you.
