Overview

We are seeking to appoint an Attendance Officer to work closely with children, staff and families to manage attendance across the school. The successful candidate will play a key role in building strong relationships with families and external agencies, working collaboratively with them to improve attendance across the school.


Responsibilities

* to monitor and track attendance across the school
* to promote and apply intervention strategies to ensure high levels of attendance and punctuality of children within the school
* to maintain accurate electronic records using the school’s MIS system
* support parents with attendance strategies, this may include home visits to support positive attendance
* the role will involve working closely with the school office and Pastoral teams

This is a busy post and will require someone who is well organised and able to work under pressure. Flexibility is essential as it may be necessary to work additional hours at busy times of the year.

Application process

Applications must be made on the school’s My New Term site. Please ensure a full work history is completed including any gaps in employment and two referees are given. Please note Ferndown Middle School does not accept CVs in place of an application form. Incomplete application forms will not be shortlisted. Please refer to the job description and person specification attached.


Safeguarding

The Castleman Academy Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

The successful candidate will be required to demonstrate that they meet the essential elements of the person specification and will be subject to pre-employment checks including an Enhanced DBS Check, Child Barred List check, satisfactory references and a health check and, where applicable, a prohibition from teaching check will be completed for all applicants.

Online search on shortlisted applicants will also be conducted. This check forms part of safeguarding checks and will focus on suitability to work with children. A person not on the appointment panel will conduct the search and share information only if findings are relevant and of concern.


Right to work

This role is UK based and your Right to Work will need to be established as part of the appointment process.

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (ROA) 1974. The amendments to the ROA provide that certain spent convictions and cautions are protected and do not need to be disclosed to employers. The Ministry of Justice guidance and DBS filtering guide provide information about what convictions must be declared.
