Responsibilities
* Operate one or more CNC or manual machines to fabricate production parts to print specifications and quality standards in accordance with company schedules, policies and procedures.
* Works from drawings, sketches and specifications in completing various machining operations.
* Performs machine set ups to obtain close tolerances, fitting and alignment of machined parts.
* Obtains required inspections on first pieces of a run according to prescribed procedure and performs inspections on work-in-progress using a wide variety of measuring devices.
* Completes and maintains all necessary records of time, part counts, first piece inspections, requisition forms, etc. for each job.
* Maintains work area in a clean, safe, and orderly fashion and conforms to all quality procedures and standards.
* Responsible for performing routine preventative maintenance of machines according to PM schedule.
* Responsible for operating machinery/equipment in a safe manner.
* Responsible for making jigs, fixtures or other specialized non-production devices as qualified and assigned.
* Responsible for acquiring raw material, supplies, tools, etc. when necessary.
* Assists in the training of other machinists as requested.
* Performs first piece inspections on basic product for other machinists, as qualified and assigned.
* Responsible for grinding tools when necessary.
* Responsible for trouble shooting drawings, machining, tooling, programming, material, etc. and making competent decisions pertaining to job at hand.
* Responsible for utilizing Geometric Dimension & Tolerance as called out on print.
* Responsible for giving feedback on trends, and recommending process improvements.
Qualifications
* Education/Certifications: High School Diploma/GED or equivalent experience
* 5+ years of trade school apprenticeship or equivalent shop experience with some experience working with engineered plastics preferred
* Technical training in shop math and blueprint reading is necessary to perform the job.
* Able to understand GD&T is a plus
* Able to read and understand basic blueprints
