Teaching Assistant - Autism Support (Full-Time)
Location: Newark, Nottinghamshire (NG24)
Daily Rate: £90 - £103.90
Contract Type: Temporary to permanent
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 3:30pm (term-time only)
Start Date: Immediate start available
Responsibilities
* Supporting pupils aged 5-16 in both 1-1 and small group settings
* Assisting with the delivery of tailored learning programmes and routines
* Encouraging engagement and communication through creative, adapted activities
* Helping pupils during transitions and supporting strategies to reduce anxiety
* Working closely with teachers to deliver targeted, motivating lessons
* Contributing to a calm, inclusive and respectful classroom environment
What we’re looking for
* Recent experience in a UK school setting as a Teaching Assistant
* A relevant qualification such as CACHE Level 3/2 in Supporting Teaching and Learning (or equivalent)
* A good understanding of autism and how it impacts learning and behaviour
* Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build trust with pupils and staff
* A calm, empathetic, and consistent approach to supporting children with additional needs
Desirable Experience
* Supporting non-verbal pupils or those using AAC systems
* Knowledge of Makaton, PECS, or sensory-based support strategies
