Booking Officer - Orthopaedic Assessment Service
To work as part of the small Orthopaedic Assessment Service Booking Team.
You will be responsible for providing a booking service to the Orthopaedic Assessment Service in accordance with Trust policies and to ensure services are sensitive to patients' needs.
You will be the first point of contact for patients, relatives and carer's accessing the Orthopaedic Assessment Service (usually by phone) and will involve entering patient details on to IT systems and booking appointments.
Full-time. Part-time and job share also considered.
Main duties of the job
First point of contact for patients wishing to access the Orthopaedic Assessment Service.
Receive telephone calls or emails from patients, carers and relatives with regards to booking their appointment within the Orthopaedic Assessment Service.
Book appointments for patients using the eReferrals and Rio systems, ensuring that any referrals have been triaged and book the appointments using the advice and guidance provided by the clinicians.
Update patient information as necessary.
Deal with queries received from patients, relatives, GP practices, clinicians and medical secretaries.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* IT Literate
* Clait/ECDL or equivalent experience
* Business and Administration NVQ 2 or equivalent level of knowledge
Experience
* Customer Service/Care experience
* Previous administration experience
* Experience of telephone communication
Additional Criteria
* Ability to work on own initiative
* Good telephone manner
* Good organisational skills
* Evidence of a good standard of literacy/English language skills
* Team Player
* Experience and knowledge of hospital procedures and computer systems, such as RIO & Maxims
