At Bournemouth University, we’re committed to delivering a fair, transparent and student-focused experience. We are seeking an experienced and confident Student Casework Manager to lead our casework function and help ensure our processes are robust, compliant, and student-centred.
This key leadership role within Academic Services is responsible for overseeing the University’s student casework activity, including appeals, complaints, and academic offences. You will ensure cases are handled in line with regulations, within deadlines, and to a consistently high standard of professional communication.
You will act as BU’s operational lead for the Office of the Independent Adjudicator (OIA), preparing responses and ensuring institutional compliance with external expectations and timescales.
Working closely with the Head of Academic Quality, you’ll also play a central role in shaping policy, improving processes, and delivering insight to senior colleagues through high‑quality reporting and analysis.
What You’ll Be Doing
* Leading and managing the Student Casework team, including performance, workload allocation and staff development
* Acting as the University’s key contact with the OIA, coordinating responses and follow‑up actions
* Developing and reviewing policies, procedures and guidance relating to student casework
* Ensuring all cases are managed fairly, consistently and within regulatory deadlines
* Providing expert advice across the University on complex casework and regulatory requirements
* Producing reports and insights to inform continuous improvement and institutional decision‑making
* Delivering training and briefings to staff to build capability and understanding across BU
About You
You’ll bring strong experience of student casework within Higher Education, alongside a detailed understanding of the regulatory landscape. You’ll be comfortable handling complex cases, interpreting regulations, and making sound, evidence‑based decisions.
