About The City of London Police
The City of London Police play a vital role in delivering a police service that is valued by those who live, work and visit the City of London. As the National Lead Force for Economic Crime, officers investigate complex fraud with international connections, while still policing the small city area. The force hosts specialist units and is currently undergoing a pay and reward programme to ensure equitable and competitive practices. Flexible working is supported where operationally possible. The role is primarily office‑based.
About The Role
The Specialist Operations Directorate provides support to investigative units. An experienced Intelligence Analyst will join the Sensitive Intelligence Unit (SIU), supporting serious and organised crime investigations through the development of intelligence products, research and time‑critical intelligence. The post holder will maintain strong relationships with operational teams, liaise with partner agencies, and represent the SIU at agency meetings where required.
Responsibilities
* Analyse problems and produce intelligence products in line with identified needs, using specialist techniques and communications data.
* Identify intelligence gaps and make recommendations in consultation with experts and stakeholders.
* Contribute to operational planning and activity through the provision and presentation of intelligence products and analytical inferences.
* Liaise with other intelligence development units where appropriate.
* Develop evidential standard analytical products to support proactive investigations.
* Support corporate initiatives and critical operational requirements, which may involve working from alternative locations and outside existing responsibilities.
Essential Criteria
* Minimum of 2 years experience as an intelligence analyst.
* Excellent interpersonal skills and proven analytical background; law enforcement experience preferred but not required.
* Strong analytical and research skills to evaluate information and provide accurate findings and recommendations.
* Excellent decision‑making skills and ability to communicate decisions to stakeholder groups.
* Ability to identify and adapt to changing priorities.
* Excellent knowledge of the National Intelligence Model (NIM) and associated processes.
* IPP certification or a request for certification in process.
Desirable Criteria
* Previous experience in a law enforcement Sensitive Intelligence Unit.
* Current Developed Vetting.
Selection Process
Applicants will be asked to evidence experience, skills and knowledge to meet the person specification. The application and interview will be tested under Level 2 of the College of Policing Competency and Values Framework. Applicants who fail to address the required skills/knowledge/experience will not be considered.
