Our growth has all been possible because of the backing of a passionate group of over 15,000 crowdfunding investors. As we’ve scaled, we’ve also raised money from world-class growth investors including Left Lane Capital, Molten Ventures, and L Catterton.
Freetrade technical teams operate within a ‘Collectives’ and ‘Squads’ model enabling us to deliver multiple technical improvements concurrently, with pace. A Collective works with a broader business focus and is typically made up of multiple Squads. A Squad, being the more agile, smaller team, has a specific focus within that Collective and consists of cross-functional skill sets including members of engineering, product and design.
Freetrade is seeking a passionate and skilled Tech Lead. This role is perfect for a visionary technologist who not only has a strong technical background in modern web technologies like React and Node.js but also possesses a keen aesthetic eye and an intrinsic passion for crafting exceptional user experiences.

You will...
* Lead the end-to-end design, development, and deployment of a new web application on GKE and GCP.
* Collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and other stakeholders to understand user needs and translate them into a captivating web application.
* Champion an impeccable user experience, emphasising design and usability to delight our customers.
* Oversee both application and infrastructure architecture, ensuring scalability, security, and high performance.
* Develop and maintain a robust CI/CD pipeline for rapid and reliable deployment of new features.
* Guide and mentor a team of talented engineers, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
* Stay ahead of the curve on new technologies and best practices to continuously evolve our tech stack and development processes.
* Advocate for code quality, system security, and scalable architecture throughout the development lifecycle.
About you:
* Proven experience as a Tech Lead with a track record of successfully building and deploying web applications.
* In-depth knowledge of React, Node.js, GKE, GCP, GraphQL, WebPack.
* Strong understanding of both front-end and back-end development processes and technologies.
* A flair for design and creating visually appealing user interfaces that provide an excellent user experience.
* Experience in driving both application and infrastructure architecture decisions
* A problem-solver mindset with an ability to prioritise, delegate, and execute tasks in a fast paced environment.
* Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate and explain complex technical concepts to non-tech stakeholders.
* A collaborative approach, with experience leading cross-functional teams to achieve ambitious goals.

Logistics:
The application process consists of a 3 stage process. Following a phone interview with one of our internal Talent Specialists, you'll have interviews centred around your Technical Leadership abilities, as well as System Design and Architectural knowledge. The third and final interview will be with our two Co-Founders, to assess your alignment to our company Values and general fit.
