Role Overview
The post holder will be responsible for overseeing the midwifery preceptorship programme, supporting the transition from student to newly qualified midwife. Acting as a role model, you will provide support for the preceptee midwives as they consolidate their learning and skills. As a member of the education team, you will work with the preceptee midwives to enhance their experience, build confidence and establish a strong foundation for their future career. The overall function of this post is to lead the delivery of a high-quality preceptorship programme within the Trust for all midwifery preceptors, developing and delivering a quality programme supporting leadership development, clinical skills and simulation.
To develop a process to support those registrants who are new to Trust to reduce duplication of training.
The post holder will be required to work closely with recruits to provide a robust model of pastoral support and act as a coach, mentor and supportive listener, about the Midwifery Clinical Preceptorship Pastoral and Retention Lead position available at WUTH.
If successful in this role, there is a requirement for you to have an enhanced DBS. This will be paid for by the Trust and then deducted from your salary over a period of 3 month.
Key Responsibilities

Qualifications & Requirements
Applicants must obtain an enhanced DBS, which will be paid for by the Trust and deducted from your salary over 3 months.
Applicants must register with the DBS Update Service if a DBS is required for the role.
Applicants must meet UK right to work requirements or have the right of abode. Eligibility for visa sponsorship is assessed on a case‑by‑case basis.

Additional Information
DBS costs are recovered via salary deduction following starting in post. Standard Disclosure £21.50+£6.50 or Enhanced Disclosure £49.50+£6.50 (fees may increase due to inflation).
