Job Role
We’re hiring a strategic and commercially focused Director of Sales and Strategic Accounts to accelerate growth across two key markets:
* Enterprise clients seeking transformative solutions in apprenticeships, workforce development, and large-scale recruitment.
* SMEs in need of trusted, managed services across HR, payroll, and IT to enhance operational efficiency and compliance.
In this senior leadership role, you’ll take ownership of our strategic account portfolio—driving long-term value, retention, and expansion. You’ll lead a high-performing sales team, cultivate new business opportunities, and strengthen existing partnerships to deliver consistent, sustainable revenue growth.
In return for your dedication, knowledge, and commitment, we’re offering a competitive salary range of £80,000 to £100,000 p.a. (dependent on experience) plus £30k OTE package with these great benefits:

Location: Essex/Remote – must be available to work at our Head Office when required
Hours: 37 hours a week. Monday to Thursday 8.30am to 5pm, Friday 8.30am to 4.30pm

Key Responsibilities
* Strategic Growth & Market Development: Develop and execute a dual-market business development strategy targeting enterprise and SME segments. Identify and pursue new commercial opportunities in apprenticeship funding, workforce development, and outsourced business services. Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and policy changes (e.g. apprenticeship levy, SME compliance) to inform strategy.
* Sales & Revenue Generation: Lead the sales cycle from prospecting to close for high-value enterprise training contracts and SME service packages. Collaborate with marketing to develop targeted campaigns and lead generation strategies. Own revenue targets and pipeline management across both service lines.
* Strategic Account Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with key enterprise and SME clients. Develop account plans to drive retention, upsell opportunities, and long-term value. Act as a senior point of contact for strategic clients, ensuring satisfaction and alignment with business goals. Monitor account performance and proactively address risks or growth opportunities.
* Partnerships & Stakeholder Engagement: Build strategic relationships with enterprise HR and L&D leaders, government bodies, and industry associations. Develop referral networks and channel partnerships to drive SME acquisition. Represent the business at industry events, conferences, and networking forums.
* Team Leadership & Collaboration: Lead and develop a high-performing business development and account management team. Work cross-functionally with service delivery, product, and transformation teams to ensure client needs are met. Champion a customer-centric, commercially focused culture.
Skills and Experience
* Proven experience (8-10+ years) in business development, commercial strategy, or B2B sales.
* Strong track record in selling training/apprenticeship solutions to enterprises, recruitment solutions and/or outsourced services to SMEs.
* Demonstrated success in strategic account management and client retention.
* Deep understanding of the UK apprenticeship landscape, SME business needs, and compliance requirements.
* Excellent negotiation, communication, and relationship building skills.
* Strategic thinker with strong commercial acumen and data-driven decision making.
* Experience leading teams and managing complex sales cycles.
