Overview

Location: Cardinal Hume Catholic School, Old Durham Road, Gateshead, NE9 6RZ. Grade: MPS/UPS + TLR 2A. Hours: Full Time, Permanent.

Cardinal Hume Catholic School is a high-performing, 11-18 academy which serves the East of Gateshead. We are proud to be part of the Bishop Wilkinson Catholic Education Trust, the largest Catholic Education Trust in the North-East of England, which will have 48 schools. Thus, there are a number of opportunities for CPD and collaborative work. Furthermore, a comprehensive and bespoke support and induction programme is provided for all new staff.


Responsibilities

* We wish to appoint a dynamic, well qualified, and highly effective teacher to the position of Second in Department. This is a thriving area of our curriculum, offering a range of popular courses at Key Stages 4 and 5. These are: Health and Social Care (Key Stages 4 and 5); Psychology (Key Stage 5); Sociology (Key Stage 5); Criminology (Key Stage 5); Early Years Child Development (Key Stage 5).
* They will look to support the leadership of this group of subjects, taking a lead on at least one course. The current post-holder is the lead for A Level Psychology. The successful applicant will have teaching responsibility in Health & Social Care and Psychology on appointment, but we would like to hear from you if your specialism is suited to the other subjects outlined above.
* The successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop within an established and supportive team of colleagues and will have the benefit of our modern building and facilities.

* The successful candidate will have the ability to contribute to a thriving department and to develop within an established and supportive team. They should be dynamic, well qualified, and highly effective as a teacher.
* Commitment to safeguarding and a commitment to CPD and collaboration within the Bishop Wilkinson Catholic Education Trust community. This post is exempt from the provisions of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act and is subject to an enhanced DBS check. An online search will be completed for all shortlisted candidates.
