Description
We are seeking an enthusiastic and approachable individual to join our team at Torre Abbey. If you have a passion for historic buildings and collections and are interested in the heritage industry, this could be the perfect role for you.
Torre Abbey, dating from 1196, is Torbay’s most historic building complex, set within 17.8 acres of gardens and parkland. It is an accredited museum owned by Torbay Council, featuring a regionally important collection and a history of religious, artistic, and social activity spanning 800 years.
We are dedicated to creating a welcoming environment and collaborate with partners to enhance accessibility for our community.
What you'll be doing:
Supporting the Senior Operations Co-ordinator, you'll assist in maintaining the historic building and collection, supporting educational, interpretative, engagement, and commercial activities to fund conservation efforts. A thorough knowledge of Torre Abbey will enable you to provide effective assistance and support.

* Experience working within a Grade I listed building and caring for an accredited collection.
* Attention to detail, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
* Confidence to work at height.
* Basic maintenance skills.
* A calm, friendly manner and positive attitude when interacting with others.
* Strong customer service skills.
* Flexibility to work unsociable hours, independently and as part of a team.
* Good numeracy, communication, and IT skills.

Skills
Essential:
* Attention to detail and ability to work independently with good prioritization skills.
* Proven ability to plan, risk assess, and manage movement of museum collections.
* Basic maintenance skills within a historic setting.
* Excellent interpersonal skills and customer service ethos.
Knowledge
Essential:
* Thorough understanding of historic house management and collection care to museum standards.
* Knowledge of fire and security systems.
* Understanding of health and safety legislation and procedures, including fire safety and COSHH.
* Experience in setting up and breaking down events, following Event Management Plans, and supervising events.
Experience & Qualifications
* Experience working in a historic house or cultural attraction.
* GCSE grade 4 (C) or equivalent in Maths and English.
