Overview
An exciting temporary Senior Band 6 Occupational Therapist role in the Stroke and Neuro Community team in North Lincolnshire, linking to the wider stroke pathway and within the Neuro Rehabilitation Centre at Goole. The post involves assessing individuals in their own homes and in bedded units, agreeing goals and devising plans with rehabilitation and equipment to support.
Responsibilities
* Undertake comprehensive assessment of patients including those with diverse or complex presentations or multiple pathologies; use advanced clinical reasoning skills, including the assessment of cognitive and perceptual impairment, interpreting these assessments and providing appropriate recommendations, considering appropriateness of equipment or recommendations for referral for major adaptation as well as the ongoing rehabilitation provided.
* Assess and manage clinical risk within own and delegated patients
* Assess patient understanding of proposals; gain valid informed consent and work within a legal framework with patients who lack capacity to consent
* Represent the Therapy service and/or individual patients at MDT meetings to ensure the delivery of a co-ordinated multidisciplinary service.
* Work as a lone practitioner with telephone support from a senior Occupational Therapist if required
* Be responsible for maintaining accurate, comprehensive patient treatment records in line with COT Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct and national and local policies and procedures
* To be aware of Trust policies and statutory requirements such as Health and Safety, Equal Opportunities, COSHH, Fire Safety, Complaints and Incident Reporting
Requirements
* Qualified Occupational Therapist with current HCPC registration; experience in stroke and neuro rehabilitation preferred.
* Ability to work in community and in bedded unit settings; good communication and teamwork skills.
Employment details
* Temporary fixed-term post until 25 September 2026; can be full-time or two part-time positions (e.g., 22.5 hours and 15 hours).
