Manufacturing Engineer - Improvement Lead - Submarines
Location: Derby (On site)
An exciting opportunity for a Manufacturing Engineer - Improvement Lead role has arisen within the New Build & Components Business (NB&C), in Nuclear (Submarines).

The aim of the role is to lead Manufacturing Engineering Strategic Improvements and application of Built in Quality across a wide range of Manufacturing Processes. The successful candidate will work with SMEs to foster a Continuous Improvement, Zero Defect culture.
The submarines business is ramping up to deliver 3 times current production volume. This is a pivotal role in ensuring NB&C are match fit to meet that challenge with robustly engineered products and processes.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Lead major improvement projects to drive SQCDP.
2. Apply Built in Quality Toolset across NB&C.
3. Define and manage the execution plan for applying Built-in-Quality tools (PFD, CM, PFMEA, Control Plans, SPC, MSA).
4. Act as Local Subject Matter Expert for Built in Quality.
5. Define standard toolsets and approaches, reflecting industry best practices.
6. Provide coaching and support to the wider PCO ME team.
7. Drive technical improvements supporting our Nuclear culture.
Candidate Profile:
* Degree qualified (or equivalent) or with relevant technical experience, passion for engineering, and a vision for modern manufacturing.
* Strong desire to improve product and process quality.
* Self-motivated, energetic, with strong cross-functional collaboration skills.
* Excellent communication skills to lead and influence at all levels.
* Deep understanding of Manufacturing Engineering processes and practices.
* Significant experience with Built in Quality tools.
* Proven track record in leading technical projects.
* Good IT skills and familiarity with manufacturing systems.
