Job Summary:
• An exciting opportunity has arisen for a skilled and experienced social work manager to join the Single Point of Access (SPA) Team as Team Leader
• This role is essential in ensuring strong leadership at the ‘front door’ of children’s services
• The postholder will provide day-to-day oversight and supervision across a multi-disciplinary team, ensuring safe and timely decision-making in line with statutory responsibilities
• The Team Leader reports directly to the Deputy Head of Service
Key Duties/Accountabilities (Sample):
• Provide professional supervision, management, and leadership to a team consisting of Social Workers, Contact Information Officers, and Business Support Officers
• Oversee and drive performance within the team to ensure assessments and decisions are made in a timely and effective manner
• Ensure consistent thresholds are applied at the first point of contact and referrals are appropriately managed
• Support operational functions and workflow within the SPA Team on a day-to-day basis
• Work collaboratively with partner agencies to strengthen working relationships and ensure a shared understanding of SPA processes
• Provide quality assurance of information, risk assessments, and referrals to ensure robust safeguarding practices
• Contribute to service development and improvement in line with local and national expectations
• Provide professional advice and guidance to staff, supporting practice development
Skills/Experience:
• Significant post-qualification experience in children’s social care
• Proven experience in a supervisory or management role
• Strong working knowledge of safeguarding, statutory thresholds, and multi-agency partnership working
• Excellent communication, decision-making, and organisational skills
• Ability to lead, motivate, and support multi-disciplinary teams
• Skilled in balancing operational pressures with high professional standards
• Confident in using case management systems and digital tools
• Experience in a front-door or MASH/SPoA setting
• Experience working within a fast-paced, high-demand environment
Additional Information:
• Qualified and registered Social Worker (Social Work England)
• This is a full-time permanent role (36 hours per week)
• The successful candidate will be expected to work from the Twickenham and Kingston offices at least 3 days per week
