This is a unique opportunity to apply professional surveying expertise in service of mission, community and heritage. We are seeking an experienced Building Surveyor to join our dynamic Property Department, managing a diverse portfolio of around 400 properties, including residential, rental, and historic buildings across South London, Surrey, and Kent. This is a key role in delivering high-quality maintenance, repair, and strategic property management.
Key Responsibilities
* Conducting site inspections, diagnosing building defects, and specifying remedial works.
* Preparing measured drawings, schedules of work, and tenders, while supervising contractors.
* Advising on property law, planning applications, and party wall matters.
* Supporting strategic projects, including stock condition surveys and maintenance planning.
* Providing expert advice to parishes and clergy on property-related matters.
About you
* A relevant qualification in Building Surveying (RICS accreditation desirable) – with strong technical knowledge of building defects, repairs, and maintenance.
* Proven experience in property management – including contract supervision, tendering, and project delivery.
* Excellent communication & relationship-building skills – with the ability to advise clergy, parishes, and external stakeholders professionally.
* A proactive and organised approach – capable of managing multiple projects while adhering to legal and health & safety requirements.
