THE ROLE Due to continued business growth, our client is seeking a skilled CNC Turner / Setter / Programmer / Operator to join their production team. This is a key hire designed to increase the skill level across the shop floor and support the company's ambition to take on smaller batch, higher-complexity work. You will be responsible for programming, setting, and operating CNC turning centres to produce precision components to customer drawings and specifications. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Programme, set, and operate CNC turning centres including Nakamura, Goodway, and CMZ lathes with Fanuc controls Interpret and work from engineering drawings, specifications, and cutting lists Produce precision-machined components within tolerances of ±0.05mm, with occasional tighter bore work Manage batch production runs typically ranging from 10 to 500 pieces Inspect your own work using manual measuring equipment (micrometers, verniers, gauges) Carry out tooling changes and adjustments as required Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment Multitask effectively, including running multiple machines and performing ancillary tasks such as deburring Contribute to general shop floor activities as part of an all-hands-on-deck team culture CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS Essential: Minimum 2-3 years' hands-on experience in CNC turning (programming, setting, and operating) Proficient with Fanuc-controlled CNC lathes Confident reading and interpreting engineering drawings and tolerances Competent with manual measuring equipment Able to work independently, manage your own time, and take initiative Right to live and work in the UK Desirable: Time-served or apprenticeship-trained background Experience operating Nakamura, Goodway, CMZ, or Dugard sub-spindle type lathes CAD software awareness Willingness to learn new machines and processes WORKING HOURS AND FLEXIBILITY Standard hours are 40 per week with the flexibility of choosing between 37, 39, or 40-hour work patterns. Options include four-day weeks and four-and-a-half-day schedules. Early finish Fridays. Overtime is available when required, paid at 1.5 times the standard hourly rate.
